About the ‘Michal Serzycki’ Data Protection Award
The ‘Michal Serzycki’ Data Protection Award, which was established by Ph.D. Edyta Bielak-Jomaa, the previous President of the UODO, honors those who contribute to broadening awareness of privacy and the role of data protection in many fields and environments.
Since 2018, the award has been presented annually during the celebration of Data Protection Day. This date has a symbolic dimension, as Poland joined the celebration of the Data Protection Day in 2007, i.e. at the time when the patron of the award – Michał Serzycki – held the position of the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection of the third term. One of the results of his activities was the initiation of large-scale information and education activities of the personal data protection authority.
